The preschool program is three hours a day in which children from 30 months through 5 years enter the adventure world of early learning. It begins with understanding themselves, then moves to understanding other people and the world. This continues into learning how to relate in a proper way to people and the world. Soon it is following directions and getting involved in group activities. All this helps to set the ground work and prepare for a life of learning.
We have three major levels of preschool:
- Toddler Preschool
Age: 1 and 2 year olds and those turning 3
Days & Hour: Monday~Friday from 9:00am to 12:00pm
A two or three day a week program is sufficient for this age. (However, those in our childcare program are in this class 5 days a week.) Our busy toddlers have opportunities for exercise, large and small muscle development, exploring, social interaction and enhancement of communication and self-help skills. Children learn words and concepts such as colors, shapes and sizes through guided play and sensory activities. They participate in stories, songs, art experiences, imaginative play, sign language and games to promote social development, intellectual ability, language development and communication, as well as self-help skills.
- Preschool Only
Age: 3 year olds and those turning 4
Days & Hour: Monday~Friday from 9:00am to 12:00pm(option1)
Monday~Friday from 9:00am to 3:30pm(option2)
3 year olds and those turning 4 have pre-school classes with the above activities to help them learn colors, shapes and spatial relationships. Their program contains a range of learning experiences to help them gain self-esteem, self-awareness, self-control, and decision making abilities. They also learn about nutrition, health, community helpers and personal safety.
- Pre-Kindergarten only
Age: childer who are turning 5
Days & Hour: Monday~Friday from 9:00am to 12:00pm(option1)
Monday~Friday from 9:00am to 3:30pm(option2)
Children who are four turning five may be enrolled in a pre-kindergarten. They are ready to explore science and social studies topics, develop reading readiness, further number concepts and other school preparation skills. Songs, stories, puppets, and printed materials help children learn names and sounds of letters. They learn to blend letters together and may begin to read. They also start learning to write letters and numbers and count to 100. During science and health units and other parts of their day they are encouraged to experiment, create, and explore. Their lively imaginations are stimulated in pretend play, reenacting familiar stories and creative storytelling.
